Course Information
Description	In-depth combined study of algebra, trigonometry, and other topics for calculus readiness.
Prerequisites	MATH 1314 (College Algebra)
Learning Outcomes	1. Determine whether a map defines a function. 2. Find the domain and range of a function and use function notation to evaluate expressions. 3. Sketch graphs and appropriate transformations for linear functions, quadratic functions, cubic functions, square root functions, absolute value functions, trigonometric functions, exponential functions, logarithmic functions, and rational functions. 4. Perform operations on functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and composition of functions and be able to find the domain of the resulting new functions. 5. Ascertain whether a function is one-to-one and find the inverse of a one-to-one function. 6. Solve exponential and logarithmic equations. 7. Compute the values of the six trigonometric functions for key angles measured in both degrees and radians. 8. Graph all six trigonometric functions and their transformations. 9. Use the basic trigonometric identities to verify other trigonometric identities. 10. Solve trigonometric equations. 11. Solve right and oblique triangles.

PSLO 3: Empirical and Quantitative Skills: Students will demonstrate applications of scientific and mathematical concepts.

Course Policies
Instructor Policies	Blackboard: All relevant information about this course will be communicated to you using your LSCPA email and via Blackboard. You should check your email daily, and regularly log in to Blackboard to check for any announcements you may have missed. Homework: All homework will be done online using MyLabsPlus (free temporary access is available for a brief period). You may log in at www.lamarpa.mylabsplus.com using your LSCPA user name. The password is your birthday. Example: If your birthday is June 2, 1985, then your password is Jun021985 (there are no spaces, but it is case-sensitive). You need to log in and get started as soon as possible. All homework assignments should be completed by the end of the semester, but your three lowest scores will be dropped, and the homework average will count as 20 % of your final grade. Exams: There will be a total of 5 weekly exams, with one occurring each Monday. Your lowest exam score will be dropped, including a score of zero received for any missed exam, therefore, there will be absolutely no other extensions or make-ups for any reason. Each of your 4 best exam grades will count as 20 % of your final grade. Optional Quizzes (Extra Credit): There will be optional weekly quizzes available to accompany each homework section. The purpose of these quizzes is to encourage you to stay on pace and to help you focus for the exams. Please do not neglect your homework assignments to complete the quizzes, since not doing the quizzes will not count against you, but failure to complete your homework will lower your grade in this course. The quizzes will only be available during the week preceding their respective exams, and must be completed by Sunday night, before the exam on Monday. Your quiz score average will count towards an extra 10 % on your final grade.
Attendance Policy	As an online course, attendance and participation will be the responsibility of the student. Feel free to work at a pace that matches your comfort, but please be careful not to fall behind. Time is limited during the summer semester, so putting things off till later will be a losing strategy.
Academic Honesty	Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
Facility Policies	No food or tobacco products are allowed in the classroom. Only students enrolled in the course are allowed in the classroom, except by special instructor permission. Use of electronic devices is prohibited.
